Dr. Alessio Zappone from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Dresden University of Technology made a report on “Energy efficiency optimization in Relay-assisted wireless networks” at F804 of New Main Building on July 11th, Thursday.

The goal of his work was to optimize different performance metrics that struck a good balance between achieving high throughputs and saving as much power as possible. For non-cooperative energy-efficient power control, the optimization problem was a set of K coupled problems, where K is the number of users in the network. Game theory was applied to solve this problem. Then he introduced cooperative energy efficiency in MIMO relay-assisted wireless networks and the global energy efficiency was maximized subject to the source transmit power constraint and the relay transmit power constraint and the source QoS constraint.

After the seminar, several students communicated with Dr. Alessio Zappone at WelcomLab F417.
