The monthly workshop of WelComLab was held at No. 3 Conference Room, New Main Building, Beihang University, on July 5th, 2013.
The communication system becomes more and more complicated nowadays in order to satisfy the requirements of high data rate. However, sophisticated network brings more interference which may kill the performance gain. Therefore, the interference should be managed carefully, which was the main topic of this workshop.
Dr. Tingting Liu first introduced her research on the DoF analysis in MIMO-IBC. She derived and proved the maximum achievable DoF in general symmetric MIMO-IBC, where the useful and smart genie was formulated to derive the tightest upper bound of DoF. The analysis methods could be extended to the general asymmetric MIMO-IBC.
Then the PhD student Wu Dan introduced several examples of interference management in Relay-aided interference network, including the instantaneous relay-aided MIMO IBC, two-hop relay-aided MIMO IC and half-duplex relay-aided MIMO IC. The relay-aided system could achieve higher DoF at the cost of extra relay resources. The interference management in relay-aided system depended on the system configurations.
The master student Wang Yunlu analyzed the sum capacity in the hybrid interference scenario and gave the optimal beamforming algorithm to maximize the sum capacity under the constraint of maximal transmit power. Finally, the master student Hou Nannan introduced one ICI management scheme in HetNet based on H-K coding. H-K coding was known as the optimal transmission scheme in two users interference channel. She aimed at maximizing the sum rate through power allocation under the constraint of PBPC, which was a non-concave problem. Therefore, iterative convex approximation (ICA) was applied to solve the non-cave problem and this HK-ICA algorithm could obtain better performance of sum rate.
